Midwifery Unit Academy

What is MU Academy?

MU Academy is the education and training branch of Midwifery Unit Network.
Since 2016, MU Academy are proud to have facilitated educational workshops across UK, mainland Europe and further afield to support the development and enhancement of midwifery-led models of care.

Why MU Academy?

Our educational programmes are designed for maternity staff and birth workers of all levels who work within or support midwifery units; this includes staff from obstetric units (OU.)

Our ethos is that maternity workers have a firm understanding and appreciation of women’s autonomy and work in partnership with women and their families; human rights in childbirth is a core theme running throughout our work. Through knowledge enhancement, our vision is that birth workers feel safe and competent in supporting physiological birth, recognising when labour deviates from normal physiology and are able to deal with obstetric emergencies in midwife-led settings safely and with confidence. All of our training is underpinned by research.

For individuals practitioners:
In December 2019, we launched four new, innovative and informative e-learning modules covering the foundations of knowledge required to work effectively and safely in a midwifery unit.

Our e-learning is designed for learners of all levels and provides links and reflective questioning to deepen your understanding when applied to clinical practice.
